Offshore Emergency Medicine®

This popular and continuously updated seminar is now in its 27th year, offering practical medical training for cruisers and racing sailors operating out of range of rapid rescue and professional medical assistance. The program requires a minimum of 12 hours of pre-course reading, study, and on-line testing followed by three days of on-site training.  The only prerequisite is completion of a CPR course, but first aid or wilderness first responder is strongly recommended. 

Offshore Emergency Medicine Certification is awarded by Wilderness Medical Associates International, and earns 36 hours CME from CAPCE. Offshore Emergency Medicine is Coast Guard approved under CFR 46.
 

OEM: Offshore Emergency Medicine 11 - 13 October 2023 in Annapolis, Maryland

This course is hosted by Cruisers University and will be held during the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland.The nearest airports are Baltimore (BWI),  Dulles (IAD), and Regan International (DCA). 
 
Instructions for precourse study will be sent to you by email. The required textbook is Wilderness and Rescue Medicine 8th Edition, by Jeffrey Isaac, PA-C and David Johnson, MD. A current CPR certification is required. You will need to complete the required paperwork, assigned reading, and on-line test before arrival. Training runs from approximately 0815 to 1700 daily. Lunch and a multiday boat show ticket is included.
