Offshore Emergency Medicine®
This popular and continuously updated seminar is now in its 30th year of offering practical medical training for cruisers and racing sailors operating out of range of rapid rescue and professional medical assistance. Depending on your experience and study habits, the program will require 12 - 36 hours of pre-course reading, study, and on-line testing prior to the three days of on-site training. The only prerequisite is current CPR/AED certification, but a basic first aid or wilderness medicine course is also recommended. The course textbook is Wilderness and Rescue Medicine 8th Edition, by Jeffrey Isaac, PA-C and David Johnson, MD. Instructions for online precourse study will be sent to you by email.
Offshore Emergency Medicine Certification is awarded by Wilderness Medical Associates International, and earns 36 hours CME from CAPCE. Offshore Emergency Medicine is Coast Guard approved under CFR 46.
