Offshore Emergency Medicine®

This popular seminar is now in its 22nd year, offering intensive medical training for cruisers and racing sailors operating out of range of rapid rescue and medical assistance. The program includes approximately 12 hours of pre-course reading, study, and on-line testing followed by three days of on-site training. There are no prerequisites, but basic first aid and CPR training is recommended either before or after this program. Certification is awarded by Wilderness Medical Associates International, and earns 36 hours CME from CAPCE.

The required textbook is Wilderness and Rescue Medicine 6th Edition, by Jeffrey Isaac, PA-C and David Johnson, MD and may be purchased in print form from the WMA Bookstore. The digital version of the book is available for download on Amazon Kindle. You should plan to complete the assigned reading and on-line test before arrival.
